DBS Marina Regatta 2015 & Scape Marketplace

Last weekend, I was invited to DBS Marina Regatta and I brought bf along! We went straight to the DBS Food Village by Savour for lunch first before exploring the other activities at the event.

Yummy food from Table at 7, Brussels Sprouts, Bistro 1855, with refreshing orange juice from Brewerkz.

Couldn’t resist a pretty ice pop afterwards! The design on my thumb is so apt because it’s also watermelon! Haha.

After lunch, we saw this milo truck from afar so we walked towards it. Afterwards, I realize I cannot find bf so I went to queue for milo myself. Then I spotted him from the opposite side also queuing for milo! Hahaha.

Some shops selling merchandise~ It was such a sweltering hot day!

Some other activities also include rock climbing and flying fox, movie screenings, cosplay and also a dance challenge which was quite interesting to watch! Check out www.dbsmarinaregatta.com if you are interested to find out more.

Went to watch some of the dragon boat races against the beautiful marina skyline.

DBS Marina Regatta 2015 will be around for the next two weekends – 6/7 June and 13/14 June.

Wearing one of the dresses I bought from Bangkok!

Afterwards, I went for my IPL session while bf went to cut his hair. When waiting for bf to be done, I went to Cineleisure to walk around on my own and afterwards, the newly revamped Scape Marketplace! It was nice checking out the new curated vendors with wide range of apparels, accessories, beauty products, and much more. Also a center stage where a band played music!

I got a floral passport holder from this stall. So pretty!

Thanks Scape, for asking me down to shop!

Lots of affordable items, I got all these for just $48! So awesome! ❤️ I also shopped some more at Scape Underground and bought two new swimwear ^_^

After shopping, we found this shop called “Pong” selling coconut icecream! Really missing the one I had in Bangkok so much that I decided to try this out! IT IS VERY YUMMY! $5.50 for a scoop of coconut icecream and mango sorbet, with three toppings and coconut meat and some juice. Fantastic.

Bf did some quick search and brought me to Noodle Place Restaurant at Orchard Gateway and we had these for dinner. What a great find! I was torn between abalone noodles or wanton noodles and eventually got the latter, which was yummy! Fresh, plump prawn dumplings are always good and the tasty hot soup was so comforting after a tiring day. Bf’s pork rib horfun and the soya chicken also earned a thumbs up from both of us. The service crew were very efficient and polite. Will be back again! Wanna bring my family to try this place too 🙂

Hirocon – Your Contact Lens Experts

One of the biggest regrets I have is not taking proper care of my eyes when I was younger. I got my first pair of glasses at six, when I was still in Kindergarten!

It wasn’t such a big deal until I became a teenager and realize that most people deem girls with spectacles less pretty than those without. Luckily, I discovered contact lens! I was initially quite reluctant and afraid, but after much persuading, I finally tried on my first pair of contact lens at 17!

I was recently introduced to Hirocon, the first shop in Singapore that specializes in the sales of ONLY contact lens! Founded in 1988 in Japan with branches situated in Toyohashi, Hamamatsu and Toyama, Hirocon wishes to provide safe contact lens wear for every individual by providing qualified optometrist with expertise in eye health.

I like how clean and cozy the shop was, especially with excellent service and traditional Japanese hospitality which Hirocon strongly believes in. Besides Japanese speaking staff, some of the staffs can also converse in English, Mandarin, Hokkien, Cantonese, and Malay, to cater to a wide variety of customers.

First, I had to fill up a form with my particulars and the staff asked me more about the type of lens I was looking for. I requested for colored dailies, so she brought out some menus for me to choose my desired brand and color.

So many to choose from! I chose one of the vivid blue ones.

After that, I was led to the Eye Test Room!

I was very impressed at how spacious it is, unlike the usual tiny rooms in other optometry shops. At Hirocon, a comprehensive eye exam goes far beyond providing the clearest vision possible. It also includes careful evaluation of your eye health with a clinical eye test setting and latest equipment. During checking, many components of the function and health of your eyes are evaluated including: External and internal ocular health, current vision and best corrected vision.

Optometrist routinely diagnose many ocular conditions including:
– Dry eye syndrome
– Diabetic Retinopathy
– Macular Degeneration
– Conjunctivities
– Cataract
– Eye allergies
– Eye infections
– Keratoconus
– Styes and Chalazia

Lockers to keep my belongings.

The optometrist led me to the basin area to remove my existing contact lens, with all the things I needed – clean running water, new lens casing, contact lens solution, mirror, tissue, etc. I had some difficulty removing my lens as usual, and the optometrist offered to help me remove!

After the lens were out, the optometrist ran several tests on my eyes and shared with me more about my eye health. It was interesting to learn about how some lifestyle habits are affecting my eye.

My favourite part was the degree checking! Anyway, I was told that the previous optical shop I went to prescribed me a higher degree than I actually had! Using contact lens with degree that is too high is actually bad and straining for the eyes.

After finding out my accurate degree, it was time to try on the lens I selected earlier!

After putting them on, the optometrist checked my eyes again and noticed that the lens were not the right fit for my eyes. (I have used this brand before and no wonder sometimes it feels quite uncomfortable when I move my eyes!) Not all brands are suitable for everyone, so she recommended me to try another brand instead.

After trying a couple more brands, I finally settled on these beautiful grey lens from a certain brand and it fitted much better! I am glad that the service of giving professional eye advice enables every individual to be prescribed the most suitable lens, protecting my eyes from unnecessary damage using incompatible lens.

There were so many brands to choose from, I was really spoilt for choice! Hirocon has the widest-range of contact lens carried in store in Singapore, with stock available for Myopia, Cosmetic lens, Astigmatisms, and Presbyopia.

So much effort into ensuring quality, life-long primary eye care for you and your family! Highest standards of care is also maintained through state-of-the-art instrumentation and continuing education to provide comprehensive eye health care specializing in diagnosis and management of ocular diseases and visual disorders. They have 4 qualified optometrist, 2 graduated from Singapore Polytechnic (Diploma in Optometry) and 2 are UK graduated with BSc in Optometry from Cardiff University and have up to 15 years of experience on all kind of eye related issues and professional eye care services.

The next time you are looking to purchase your contact lens, do visit Hirocon located at 277 Orchard Road #B2-28 Orchard Gateway! Located centrally, it’s convenient for everyone!

The operation hours are 11:00 ~ 21:00 daily. You can call 67023777 or email orchardgateway@hirocon-net.com for more information! www.hirocon-net.com

Miracle Bio Water

Recently, I attended Bio-essence’s Miracle Bio Water’s launch for the facial mist’ new spray and new look! I heard many positive reviews about this product so I was very keen to try for myself.

Bio-essence Miracle Bio Water contains the lowest salt content of 2.432mg/l which also mean maximum hydration as it absorbs less moisture from the skin and ensures better moisturizing effects!

Some cool ideas from the event on when you can use the miracle water!
– Ideal to use on the plane, where it is very drying for the skin
– Refresh and calm yourself down after a workout
– Hydration on the go, cool skin under hot sun as-and-when
– Moisturizes dry hair, especially in air-conditioned room

I was concerned about whether I could use the product due to the nature of my sensitive skin. To my delight, it is hypoallergenic and dermatologically tested to be suitable for all skin types as it has an optimal pH value of 6.45 that is closest to the skin’s natural pH value.

We had several activities at the event and one of them was to test our skin’s moisture level and temperature before and after misting to prove its cooling, soothing and calming effects, as well as its ability to moisturize and nourish skin effectively.

We were given this chart to record our measurements. There was also a test for how well it can control oil, but because my skin is very dry as usual, I didn’t have any oil on the blotting paper even before spraying. I did see its effect on the other girls though!

I tried the test twice, once on my left profile and once on my right profile. Here are the results!

***

Cooling Effects – Temperature:

Left Before: 32.4
Left After: 31.1

Right Before: 32.5
Right After: 31.3

As you can see, the temperature of my skin dropped slightly more than 1 degree each side!

***

Hydration Effects – Moisture Level:

Left Before: 28.7%
Left After: 45.3%

Right Before: 20.5%
Right After: 31.0%

Approximately an increase in moisture of 10.5% to 16.6% after misting!

***

Numbers don’t lie and it was interesting to know that the facial mist really worked, and not just my own imagination! Haha.

After that, we went were tasked to decorate our very own personalized Miracle Bio Water!

I had initially wanted to bling the entire bottle but got lazy so I ended up wrapping it with pink feathers. It look so much like a getai-singer now! Haha. But it’s still nice because it’s pink! Please vote for me on http://www.facebook.com/bioessence.sg even if you think it’s not the prettiest!

Photo with Shenny at the event 🙂

I like that the Miracle Bio Water is available in both 300ml and 100ml compact size!

I brought out the 100ml compact size the next day. It is extremely easy to bring around in the bag for daily use.

We had brunch at Quayside Isle and if you know me in real life, I almost always choose outdoor seating during daytime because I love sunshine and I like bright photos. However, the weather here is really intensely hot! The skin needs to stay well hydrated in order to remain moist, supple and healthy in this sweltering heat! That’s when the Miracle Bio Water’s power hydration comes to good use in such situations. Luckily for me, I had it with me that day and spraying it on my face and body cooled me down instantly and I could enjoy my brunch outdoors without feeling too warm. It can also be used after workouts by the way!

The 100ml bottle is also suitable for travels! I have eczema and changes in weather, immense heat, or humidity causes it to flare up so often and when I travel, I wanna take pretty photos without rashes on my face! I like how the product helps to cool my face and replenish the much needed moisture. Some people use it after treatments too, to mellow the soreness.

Other suggestions on where to keep the Miracle Bio Water for daily use:
• In the car to use on the go
• On the dressing table to use before and after makeup (It helps to refine pores, brighten and firm skin! And yes! Can use after makeup! In fact, it also allows the makeup to be longer lasting and natural looking.)
• Beside the bed, especially if you sleep in an air-conditioned room, which is very dehydrating for the skin.
• Work desk. Very useful for freshening up after an afternoon of going through piles of paperwork and looking at tiny numbers on my excel sheet! Instead of washing my face and ruining my makeup, using the facial mist helps alot! It also helps to keep my skin moisturized even after long hours in an air-conditioned office.

It’s easy peasy to use too! Hold the bottle at a distance not less than 20 cm from targeted area and spray. Pat it dry gently after spraying. (Do not need to pat dry after makeup.)

I especially love how fine the mist is, and gentle on my skin.

Besides some which I have elaborated above, here are 20 Excellent Efficacies that the Miracle Bio Water can do for your Face, Hair, and Body!

• Fastest cooling, soothing and calming effects
• Highest hydration with lowest salt content

Whisk and Paddle

After booking our BTO unit last year, we have been heading to Punggol more frequently, mainly to check out the progress of our building and also to explore the area. Awhile back, we went to this place (within walking distance from our home… so awesome!) at night to have dinner and I fell in love with the vibrancy. There were several restaurants and a prawning area with loud pop music. So happening! Haha.

We went back on a later date in the afternoon to have brunch at Whisk & Paddle.

Really quite nice having my food with a view of nature! It’s kinda good to get away from the busy city once in awhile.

The outdoor seats are sheltered but it can get a little warm, so it is probably better to sit indoors and enjoy the fans!

Cold drink, essential for such a hot day!

We were there around 2pm and many items on the menu were already sold out. The couple next to us eventually ended up with only drinks because every single dish they wanted was not available. Haha. It was quite amusing.

We settled for smoked salmon poached eggs hollandaise sauce on waffles. It was quite an interesting change from the usual muffins, but still very photogenic!

We also ordered the Ham and Pineapple Pizza, and it was such an appetizing sight when it arrived! Can’t stop staring at this photo as I blog! Haha.

Sides of wedges with cheese dip.

Slightly lighter makeup that day!

My refreshing ice tea ^_^

Do check out the area if you are nearby! I love the place so much and look forward to spending more time here after we move in! It’s also an alternative to Punggol Settlement, which can get really too crowded at times.

After lunch, we took a short walk along the river, enjoying the breeze.

Wore a checkered outerwear from www.earthdoll.co over a plain white tee and skorts! Not my usual style but I quite like how it turned out. The cut was also very flattering, not baggy at all!

Of course, we also went to check out the progress of our new home ^_^ Can’t wait to see our exact unit being built! No, strike that – Can’t wait for the entire estate to finish building so that I can move in as soon as possible! Haha.

Cute Bear Sushi

The cute bear sushi was the main reason we visited Appare Udon, located at Novena Square 2! Anyway, I think it’s actually quite easy to make the above bear sushi. Use aburaage to wrap sushi rice, put a “wang wang” (google “旺仔小馒头”) as nose and barley pearls as ears. Then, use teriyaki sauce for the eyes and nose!

Actually I read another blog and they had panda maki sushi as well but it was no longer on the menu when we went.

Had Tonkotsu udon in a hotpot! Few years back there was a period of time I craved for udon all the time, especially the springy type! By the way I watched Kangxilaile, a Taiwanese variety show that day and this actress said that she went to Japan but didn’t know how to order food in the restaurants, so she called a friend for help. She requested for something seafood and soupy, so the friend taught her to say “Kani Nabe”, which means Crab Hotpot. It was extremely funny because the pronunciation is also vulgar in a certain dialect. Haha.

They have super big size for curry udon but we ordered the regular one. I saw other people ordering the prawn tempura and it was so huge, very tempting!

Wore this oriental peplum top from www.earthdoll.co 🙂 Gonna be heading to the retail store again tomorrow to pick out clothes for my holiday trip next month! So excited! Always love shopping at Earthdoll ^_^ Visit it at Bukit Panjang Plaza #03-21!

Elroy’s Full Month Celebration

Peperoni

(White outerwear from www.earthdoll.co)

Just another weekend from 2014. It’s amazing how time flies really quick. I am turning 25 in afew months and that’s a quarter of century. Before I know it, I would have passed half a century. Sometimes I wish time could slow down so that we can slowly enjoy every single living minute. Life is so precious and beautiful, but such a pity that we all have a limited time to experience it. I kinda miss my younger days so much that I actually don’t mind time-travelling back to 13 and relive my life all over again (but with the same brain as I currently have la, so that I make better choices).

Lunch with bf at Peperoni Pizzeria~

Just tightened my braces and was thinking what I should eat with my aching teeth. Must be soft enough for me to swallow without biting, yet I still prefer solids over liquid food. Thought of grilled fish but settled for risotto. I am glad I did, because the rissoto here was extremely yummy with many plump prawns!

Ahem, this day was so long ago that I actually remembered nothing from that day. If I didn’t remember wrongly, we were late for our movie because the new layout of Suntec is so confusing after the renovation. Not sure if this happened exactly that day, but while trying to find the cinema and pressed for time, we came to a junction where we either turn left or turn right. Asked him to go find someone to ask whether turn left or turn right to get to the cinema but he just continued walking towards the right and refused to ask anyone. When we reach the end and saw that the cinema wasn’t there, he finally went to ask someone. Aiyo by then what’s the point of asking? We already reached the end so any goondu also know the cinema should be left lor. We could have saved some time if he had asked before we walked all the way to the end! But then looking back, why didn’t I went to ask instead? I guess I was just pissed at men’s stubborness towards asking for directions. Haha.

My first time playing mahjong!

A happy and fun-packed weekend earlier this year!

Went to HDB hub with bf to check out the newly renovated showrooms which we weren’t able to visit when we applied for our BTO last year. Although we booked a 5 room flat, it was very interesting to also visit the 2/3/4-room showrooms! Told bf I actually quite like the studio apartment because it felt very cozy but he still insist he prefer big spaces. Haha. Well, what I feel is, how big can a 5-room HDB flat be? If really want big, go for super big and get a huge mansion instead! I would gladly forgo ‘cozy’ for a grand and beautiful mansion hahaha.

After that, we went to Seletar Mall for lunch and movie. I love watching movies but it seem like the screening times in Singapore are very limited. I wanted to watch a particular movie that day, but all the theaters are showing it at either 7pm or 9pm. Don’t have 8pm de! 7pm is too rush and 9pm is too late. 8pm is just nice~

Afterwards we went to check out the building progress of our BTO at Punggol! Nothing up yet during that time, but now already started with 2nd/3rd storey! So excited~ Faster build faster build! Haha.

This is the beautiful field behind, which leads to the sea. It would probably be under construction for other new homes by the time we move in. Such a pity because I would love to have such a pretty backyard! I always feel good when I visit the BTO site, and I already love our new home even though it’s not even built yet! (But if can nearer to LRT/MRT will be better. haha. Looking at how far we are from the nearest station, I may have to cab everyday -_-)

Afterwards, bf dropped me off for my gathering with this bunch at Eugene’s house. Missing Amber who couldn’t make it that day! These are the people I can comfortably talk to about anything and everything even though all six of us have very different personalities. Our group chat is active every single day and moment, on weekdays on weekends, from morning when I just woke up till night just before I sleep. Haha.

 Yummy zi-char dinner!

Eugene taught me how to play mahjong and I am so hooked on the game ever since. I want more mahjong sessions!
